This GAOTD is one of the BEST media player on the market right now, but I think that since the awesome freeware "PotPlayer" was released there's absolutely no point of paying any money for an app like this anymore, since it supports almost any available video formats out there, meaning with this magic tool there's no need to download any codec anymore!!! VLC is a little kid compared to KMPlayer.
You will never have to download any codec, in your life or for next 2 years!!And unlike this GAOTD is always updatable, of course!!

Other good media player are worth a try are also these:
* KMPlayer
The player is a versatile video media player which can cover various types of container format such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg Theora, OGM, 3GP, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, and QuickTime among others.

* (Portable) SPlayer

* DAPlayer
The only free Bluray decrypt and backup solution on the market, compatible with BD+ and AACS protected Bluray, which allows you to play Bluray videos from your hard disk backup files and/or from your virtual driver.

* (Portable) Media Player Classic - Home Cinema
With this magic lightweight free video player app you can watch movies even with ancient PCs back from '99.

* DVD-Ranger Player
This is a lightweight but extremely powerful HD/Bluray Video Player & Video Converter, enabling you to create playlists, take snapshots and extract audio from your videos.

So, despite being this GAOTD an excellent media player, I'm afraid that even this field is pretty much SATURATED nowadays...what do you make of it, dudes?
Enjoy!!

I tried Zoom Player out a few months ago, when it was time for my yearly "see if any of the competition has surpassed KMPlayer and PotPlayer yet."
Although Zoom Player is one of the more advanced media players, I came to the conclusion that it couldn't really keep up with the likes of PotPlayer (PotPlayer 1.5.34600 Beta - VideoHelp.com Downloads), which are both freeware...
PotPlayer is basically the spiritual successor to KMPlayer, in case anyone was wondering; and it's the most advanced, powerful and customizable media player that I've ever used (yep, miles better than VLC, in my opinion). There's almost no end to the amount of ways you can tweak audio and video input and output. It'll also play any codec that's thrown at it, and if you're so inclined, you can also even add and assign custom video filters (to improve the quality of H264/AVC1 at 1080p by using custom CoreAVC filters, for example).
And although I don't personally use it for watching a lot of anime and foreign-language stuff, it's huge with that crowd as well, because of all the subtitle rendering and audio stream options.
I don't mean to steal Zoom Player's thunder here, but I think everyone should have a fair shake when it comes to checking out the freeware competition.
Cheers...

Tried it now on a film, along with three other free video players. In full-screen mode, the pictire of ZoomPLayer rendering is the worst, by far: the "little squares" can bee seen clearly.
Also, ZoomPLayer cannot find the subs with the same name, you have to "turn them on" manually.
And a little warning for those who are going to install: the program tries to install another software, some sort of tune-up utilities. So be sure to catch the right moment and uncheck the tiny box if you don't want that.
The install package also includes two things you might want to uncheck: a huge nubler or tiny files that they call "Radio stations database" and an "Install Center" that takes the initiative to install whatever software it finds appropriate for your computer, like latest version of VirtualDub and maybe more.
So... thanks for the giveaway but... uninstalled.

just a warning...do not update the software when an update is available, you lose the give away...happened with the last version to me
