The program requested a change to my homepage.
I denied the request.
It still went ahead and changed it anyway.
Uninstalled in disgust.
The presence of this sentence in the product summary, contrasted with the sample screenshots, made me cackle so loudly I scared the cats:
WhiteSmoke 2011 includes the a comprehensive English writing tool, full-text translator, multilingual dictionary and a multitude of ready-to-use templates.
If you can't immediately see why, then perhaps you actually need this software....
Be careful guys
The installer of this software will change your Web Home Page and Search Engine by default.
Make sure you select:
Custom Installation (advanced)
and deselect
Install WhiteSmoke toolbar, and make the WhiteSmoke web search my default search engine and home page. Including Social Grammar Checker.
The code downloaded from GOTD server is just the GOTD wrapper and a small online installer for this software (about 150 kilobyte). All the "WhiteSmoke 2011" code is installed over the net. It's about 16 megabyte if you deselect the search engine etc, as described above.
They will ask a mail address during the installation. It's just for their SPAM. The registration takes place in the background (online). No serial is sent to the email.
I wonder why they put Microsoft Office as a requirement when this program supports many writing tools.
Just noticed on the first screenshot, that Whitesmoke has missed "somthing" not a good advert for the software lol.
You got this all wrong! We don't need this application. Some of your developers need it so they can write descriptions of their software that we English speaking folks can actually understand.

Păi dacă tot servesc românii din 2002 (Serving customers in Romania since 2002!), atunci de ce nu au pachet de traduceri și pentru română?
Plus că Kaspersky îmi arată că instalerul are un virus; a trebuit să-l dezactivez ca să instaleze programul.
