Sothink have on Jan 4th 2010 released an upgrade to the version 4.7 offered in today's giveaway.
Does this mean we'll be stuck with the bugs in v4.7? SWF Quicker looks like a promising application, but would much more promising of course without the bugs...

SWF Quicker is a good app, but installation may have some impact on your Windows install... It makes a fair amount of changes in the registry, though the main one you'll notice is it's added as an extension to Internet Explorer. [Can't give a good figure on the total number of changes since InstallWatch Pro logged entries where the values remained the same, because the new values were entered as hexadecimal, &/or lower case letters were used in CLSID keys/values. Nonetheless, & obviously FWIW, after uninstalling a previous version in XP Pro SP3 32, the figures it reported are: 7991 registry entries added, 222 deleted, & 239 updated.] The only glitch I experienced during install was an error message that a registry key couldn't be written -- using Regedit I went to the Sothink key the error message listed, & gave it full permissions... after that clicking the button to retry worked. The install package includes MSXML 4.0 SP2 -- I have the SP3 version installed so the install routine skipped it. The web site talks about installing Java & the Adobe Flex SDK, but that's the newer version only. Finally setup includes 8 files, 3 folders destined for Windows' Common Files folder.

Hi guys, if you really need the 5.0 version, you can just install is after you registred the giveaway version!
Just click Help / Check for Updates and download the new version.
It works!

Answers:

1. You're not stuck with anything, it's FREE.

2. Normally releases like 4.x and to 5.x would not be considered an update, it would be a entire new version release, and generally you have to buy a new License for the new version.

3. (Here comes the real kicker of answers...)
Have you even bothered to try installing SWFQuicker v5.0 to find out if the v4.7 license will upgrade? (I think you'll be pleased to see the results.)

It appears that you can install 4.7 and upgrade 5.0 without any problem. My program did not see anything.
