Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro system. A clean installation
A (Chinese?) company without namne and address. We had had Start Menu X Pro 5.16 May 6, 2014. Here are the old reviews:

The company is convinced, that they have an excellent product. They give a link to their competitors. That's rare!

If you want the “old” startmenue back on Win 8 and above, this is a good solution. There is not much difference between the free and the paid version, it is mainly the 1-klick option : The PRO version allows you Tabs and One-Click-Launch.
This is done without problems, easy to handle. The company claims to have seven years of experience in alternate menu solutions. A quick search showed Start Menu X 4.53 in July 2010 and the previous “Vista Start Menu” in 2007. So they should have enough experience in this field. A good program, does what it claims.
Due to a new computer and a new setup, I don't have longer my former "classic start menu 4.x". I have to admit, that I even didn't miss it. I'll keep this to see, if it suits my needs.

Hello; installed on Win 7 x64 and the activation does'nt work.
I have disabled the firewall but no activation again.
I have installed the free version but the serial didn't worked again.
Did i missed something ?

I have been running this program in version 5.15 since it was given out before and I have enjoyed using it. However, for about the last few months vs. 5.15 seemed to react slowly to a click on the start menu button - I would have to click the start menu icon sevreal times before anything would happen. I am happy to say that 5.30 seems to havew eliminated the slow menu start. My OS is win 7 64x.
It's not that there was anything basically wrong with the standard win 7 start menu, I just like Start Menu x - today's Giveaway, better. As with all GOTD programs I did a "system restore point" before installing as a bit of insurance (not guaranteed though.)
So if you don't alreqady have this installed - give it a try. There's a good chance you'll like it, and if not, uninstall it.

Start Menu X Pro - why "Pro"? As an IT-professional I have to work with the laptops and PCs of clients and I must be able to work with the original Windows tools, so I don't use Start menu replacements on my laptops and PCs with Win 8.1. And BTW nobody needs a replacement because the Microsoft solution in Windows 8.1 is perfect after getting used to it. Even people with a slow brain can handle it as I see in my daily work.

Thanks for the update on your professional qualifications. What that has to do with the efficacy & performance of the software in question escapes me.
