Silver Key produce fișiere criptate (sau porțiuni) ce sunt ideale pentru a trimite date private prin intermediul unui canal nesigur, cum este internetul. 60% THUMBS DOWN but no comments so far about the software performance?

The idea behind this tool is GOOD, namely sending encrypted sensitive data over the WEB by using self-extracting "parcels" so that the recipient is not obligated to buy any software to decrypt them.

So just for this unique feature I give it a THUMBS UP!

Does this mean I would pay 30 bucks for an app like this?

Of course NOT, otherwise why the heck calling myself "King Of Freebies?" LOL!!

"Self-decrypting" does not mean that it can be decrypted without the password. It means that the parcel does not require installing any decryption software on the receiving side.

There are two kinds of parcels: self-decrypting (executable), and standard (non-executable).

Self-decrypting parcel is a small decryptor program with attached encrypted data. The recipient simply double-clicks it to decrypt, no other software is needed.

Standard parcel contains only encrypted data. In order to decrypt it, the recipient needs to install Silver Key (free edition will do).

Self-decrypting parcels are most convenient, but they sometimes get blocked during transfer (some mail servers don't allow executable attachments). Standard parcels never get blocked, but the recipient needs to install decrypting software.

It is not possible to decrypt without the right password/key, just right-clicking is absolutely not enough.
