As I understand it, this VPN was set up as "a club" so as to obviate the problem of too many subscribers making demands of too few servers. "Invitations" are only issued when Seed4.Me has spare capacity. It's one way of doing business, I guess, and so long as too many free subscriptions aren't given away to the detriment of paying subscribers, it ought to work.

But not for me. Though the website of this Taiwanese provider is disappointingly vague, its small-print Terms & Conditions are alarmingly specific:

All VPNs will slow your connection speed somewhat depending on where the server is you're going through. ALSO, buried in their Terms of Service is this: "Seed4.Me reserves the right to install, manage and operate one or more software, monitoring or other solutions designed to assist us in identifying and/or tracking activities that we consider to be illegal or violations of these ToS's." That means they can surreptitiously install spyware on your computer to monitor your web activities. I'd prefer a VPN that doesn't spy on its customers.

Sorry to flog a dead horse but I dislike 'trial periods' without stating what the cost will be after the period expires. I did look at the publisher's website and it wasn't obviously stated. All it said was that this is a 'club' and there were very 'flexible rates' but what was most confusing was where they said (paraphrasing) that users don't 'purchase time' they 'top up the balance' and then can extend? I just don't get it -- if the terms and pricing aren't clear & simple I'm taking a pass. Appreciate the offer & sorry if I just missed the info on the website.

I'll stay with Tor's browser, just download, install and use. No silliness with it. No trial period, no money, no club, doesn't expire and no one is looking over your shoulder.
