If I lose this software (in a crash, involuntary update etc.) do I have to buy it to have access to my protected folder?

For what it does this GAOTD seems to me a terrific program...and Softpedia Editor seems to agree with me....LOL!

So can't figure out why it scored here a so poor rating so far!!

My only concern is: what happens if we lose the GAOTD key?? Do we have to buy a new license??

So for programs like this, maybe we'd better rely on FREE and OPEN SOURCE apps...what do you make of it, dudes??

The first questions I ask about such programs are:
1. Is the protection still valid in Safe Mode
2. Is the protection still valid if the hard disk is viewed using a boot disk (or similar means).
3. Can the hidden folder be viewed by accessing the disk content directly.
4. Is the hidden content encrypted.

None of these issues is addressed on the site, as far as I can see.

So how can we begin to decide if this is worth trying?

(I'm sure others will suggest freeware options).

What is the deal here? After a year, you're locked out of your protected folder unless you renew your license? Sounds like a racket to me.

I used this for a while, I liked it a lot for it's easyness it works great really.

A big dislike (and very strange) however is that you need to pay every year. Also very unclear what encryption is used therefor unclear how secure it really it.

But overall IObit makes very good software.
