With the H265 codec, the program simply crashes:

That's a good question.

Converting to HD is really making a MUCH larger file with a long time. I will take an HD picture for instance.

A 1920 x 1080 resolution HD picture has 1920 x 1080 pixels in it = 2073600 pixels.
A 320 x 240 picture has only 76800 pixels.
That means converting 320 x 240 to 1920 x 1080 (HD) means 27 times as much information. Videos are all the same.

So a poor original video file is ALWAYS going to get bad result when converting to HD. That is not the fault of the program, whatever other softwares you use, it MUST NOT reach your expected results. However, you might be satisfied with the effect if you convert from 320P to 480P, 480P to 720P, 720P to 1080P, 1080P to 4K.

Video conversion involves in many factors like video transcoding, compression, etc. Image quality, conversion speed and smaller size - How to keep the balance? That's a shared issue among multi-media developers.

Installed and registered without problems, opened up to an interface I recognised as WonderFox as soon as I went to select the output format, a really sensible design.

I was pretty well ready to slate this converter as soon as I saw converting from SD to HD, but before that happened the developers gave a convincing argument when they answered Tomcat.
Obviously you cannot put information into a video that doesn't exist but you can give a perception of improvement using various effects which apparently the program does with this type of conversion.

Like most of us I have no shortage of video converters but as my vision has deteriorated with old age,
I find that increasing sharpness and manipulating contrast and brightness make viewing so much easier and I wanted to try the effects offered by this program.
I found the increase in sharpness to be very effective but not controllable nor could I combine it with other effects, a serious omission in my opinion.

I really like the interface and I can make use of the effects and so I am going to keep it.
