read barcodes FROM my computer with Barcode Reader installed ??
Normally you need a special scanner
to read barcodes
no computer has such scanner installed
Should one have to buy a special scanner and which one?
And how connect it to computer to use Barcode Reader?

You can read a barcode from an image file stored on your computer. Say you have a PNG image file of a common QR code. Just import the image into the program and it will translate the QR code into whatever it contains for you to see.

Barcode Reader does not automatically select
decoding method of barcode but user himself
must GUESS which of about 35 decoding modes in menu
he should choose
You have to guess which of the 35 decoding methods you should choose in the menu during DECODE and after several attempts get the digit code
but you get NO explanations for what the numbers mean -
not Manufacturer Number, not Item Number - absolutely nothing
