Downloaded and installed with no problems. Biggest difference between this and Ashampoo burning studio 16 is that 16 didn't bombard you with ads every few seconds. I can understand the wanting to make money but seriously? I had 4 popup ads in under 2 minutes. Uninstalling and just using burning studio 16. The obsessive pushiness of Ashampoo is their only downfall. It's the one aspect of every one of their programs that make me seriously consider finding something new, and it also makes me never want to spend a penny on anything they sell. There is such a thing as SEVER OVERKILL. Other than that I love it :)

Utter confusion about versions and upgrades, and this, in my opinion, is just deliberate. Obfuscate the real info and keep changing version names, in order to have ever more people click on the download button -- then upgrade for a fee at some point.
The best place to start, in order to make sense of this mess, is the download page of the Ashampoo site.

There, we see that there are currently four distinct free versions of this software :
- Ashampoo Burning Studio 2017 v.18.0.0 of 2016/12/15 (presumably the one on offer here)
- Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016 v.16.0.2 of 2015/12/03
- Ashampoo Burning Studio Business v.15.0.4 of 2015/07/23
- Ashampoo Burning Studio FREE v.1.14.5 of 2014/06/02
And two paid-for versions :
- Ashampoo Burning Studio 18 v.18.0.1 of 2016/12/16 - 60 $

As for the differences between them, there's no comparison chart obviously. You'll have to make your own, by opening each product page, going to the Details tab, copying the features list and pasting it in a spreadsheet or word processor.

Heavy Water, Ashampoo has nearly all the "lite-version" progs permanently for download on its website - this "free" version in GOTD is one of those lite versions. (See remark at end of offer for a cheaper upgrade) So it's not really a giveaway!
